Announced this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas the Que is an innovative device which employs plastic technology developed by Cambridge based technology company Plastic Logic.
A large format device, the Que is aimed squarely at the commercial market and aims to provide busy executives and engineers a means of storing and reading a multitude of complicated and technical documents while on the move.
The Que is not only much larger than its rivals with a 10.7” shatter-proof plastic display, but is also much thinner at 85mm or ? of an inch.

The unique plastic display is the result of 10 years development and combined with E-Ink Vizplex technology provides a reading experience as close as possible to real paper – even in brightly lit areas and direct sunlight.
Unlike other eReaders which employ a sophisticated range of grey scales the Que uses a simple black and white print design. The company claim that this is possible due to the very high quality of their screen technology. As they say:
“Think of pools of black ink captured in a glass inkwell against a crisp sheet of white linen paper.”
The Que eReader can be used to store and view business and professional newspapers as well as a range of document formats including PDF, Microsoft Office Documents and any book or magazine using the standard ePub format; with the standard 4GB model being able to store around 35,000 individual documents.
Users will be able to download content direct from a PC, via W-Fi, wirelessly via the 3G mobile network and direct from the Barnes & Noble eBook Store. The company has also announced deals with newspaper publishers including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and the LA Times.
The Que will initially only be available to buy in the US and prices are expected to be around $649.00 for the 4GB QUE and $799.00 for the 8GB QUE
